Sri Lanka is working together with Japan and China to study oceanographic conditions and climate in the Indian Ocean, states the head of the Island’s Marine Resources Agency.
“We have established collaboration with Japan” stated Hiran Jayewardene, director of Sri Lanka’s National Aquatic Research Agency.
“We will work across the bay of Bengal and Perth in Australia to understand the surrounding Ocean.”
Jayewardene is currently heading the NARA, which was established 30 years ago.
He said NARA is also in discussions with China to team up on a meteorological study. A group of six academics had recently visited the region.
