The largest Russian independent gas producer, Novatek, has framed a plan for ordering ten LNG tankers for the purpose of its great Arctic project Yamal, reports BarentsObserver.
The 183.000 to 208.000 cubic meters tankers will be transporting LNG from the Yamal LNG plant to the world market clients. The tankers will be equipped to operate during the whole year in severe ice conditions.
The ships are undergoing a conceptual projection phase and will be built following a tender procedure throughout 2012.
Within the Yamal LNG project’s framework, the company is planning further exploration and development activities at the South-Tambeyskoye field including production drilling and infrastructure development. Infrastructure plans are expected to include the construction of a gas gathering system, a gas complex processing facility, a gas condensate processing unit, an LNG plant, pipelines which enable gas transportation from the field to the plant, an offshore shipping terminal and transport infrastructure system, including an airport, terminal and highways. The resources of this condensate and gas field will allow production of more than 15 million tons of LNG per year.
