TAG Energy Solutions has been awarded a significant new contract to deliver four foundation piles for international marine construction company Saipem.

The piles will be utilised to support a jacket construction in the North Sea operated by Total in the Elgin B oil & gas field.

The contract was secured by TAG Energy Solutions through a competitive tender process, which included several international competitors.

Measuring 2.5m in diameter and between 90 and 101 metres in length, the piles are scheduled to be manufactured at TAG ES’ new production facility in North East England in the first and second quarters of 2012.

TAG Energy Solutions’ £20million, 6,920m2 production facility has the capability to deliver up to 100,000 te of steel monopiles per annum. Utilising an innovative manufacturing process, the facility’s full-automated system rolls and welds large diameter tubulars used in the production of offshore structures.

The company’s riverside facility has also been developed to manufacture jackets, transition pieces and topside structures, which can be transported around the world from its extensive wet dock and 6,000te load out quay.

Alex Dawson, Chief Executive of TAG Energy Solutions, said: “ Winning this contract will send a strong message to the market that TAG has quality people, procedures and manufacturing facilities, which meet the demands of a highly-respected major international contractor.”

Alex added: “Although primarily built to serve offshore Renewables, our new production facility can also deliver for the Oil & Gas sector. Our team has extensive experience in the industry and have worked on a considerable number of oil & gas projects in the past.

“Hydrocarbons will continue to play a role in securing a balanced energy future for some time to come and we are keen to support the sector through our effective and innovative manufacturing solutions.”
