Telecommunication experts are excited about the opportunities that the improved fiber optic cables capability brings to Africa.

As highlighted, the major jump in the segment will be seen in a year ahead across the entire continent, especially in Uganda, said Warid Telecom’s former executive Yussif Khalil.

COO of Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks, Mr. Leigh Frame added that Africa will be well linked and will not require any new major international submarine systems.

He also said that Africa will experience the wave of submarine cable requirement.

Market reaction to these continental infrastructural activities indicates that foreign companies, particularly those from India, raise stake in submarine cable projects in Africa.
