Care2, an online community, launches a petition to restrict an environmental damage from experimental deep-sea mining.

The campaign has attracted international support.

Community has collected more than 10,000 signatures and the number of participants is still increasing.

Mining companies granted numerous approvals for exploring underwater hydrothermal vents in the Indian Ocean and off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

European Union supported experimental seabed mining, despite the complaint of Pacific communities.

Such as Care2, the Pacific civil society has launched its own petition in opposition to experimental seabed mining, which is also getting international support.
