UK-wide consortium bid from Carbon Trust, National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), and Ocean Energy Innovation selected to play a pivotal role in setting up the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.
The Technology Strategy Board has today announced that the UK-wide consortium bid from Carbon Trust, National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), and Ocean Energy Innovation has been selected to play a pivotal role in setting up the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.
Responding to the news Tom Delay, Chief Executive of the Carbon Trust said:
“We are delighted to be part of the winning consortium that will develop the UK’s new Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult centre. The consortium brings together the ‘best of British’ skills and experience and we look forward to working alongside colleagues at Narec and Ocean Energy Innovation to make this new exciting venture a success.
We have a strong track record in offshore renewables and are currently supporting the sector through our offshore wind accelerator programme to cut the costs of the operation and deployment of offshore wind. Our work on marine energy has helped the sector innovate considerably over the past six years and we are currently shaping the next industry support programme for the wave and tidal sector’s first arrays. We plan to bring all our knowledge, experience and skills to the fore, to ensure the new Catapult centre is open and supporting business as soon as possible.”
