STX Finland Oy Turku shipyard launched the multipurpose deck cargo vessel constructed for Gaiamare Ltd. The vessel expected to be approx. 105.4 meters long and approx. 18.8 meters wide will be delivered in late spring 2012.
This latest and environmentally friendly multipurpose deck cargo vessel can be deployed for various tasks including transport of demanding project cargo such as offshore wind farm structure and energy wood transport in the Baltic Sea area. The ice class 1A vessel is designed to efficiently operate in demanding ice conditions and in oil spill response activities. The main engines of the vessel can use environmentally friendly bio oil as fuel.
According to Turku Shipyard Director, Jari Anttila, test runs have already been initiated and the sea trial of the vessel is due in April.
