Elengy, a GDF SUEZ subsidiary, said in a statement that 2011 was a busy year for the LNG terminals of the company: liquefied natural gas (LNG) accounted for a growing share of France’s natural gas supplies last year.
In fact, 159 TWh of gas (up from 155 TWh in 2010) was unloaded at Elengy’s three LNG terminals in 2011 – that is, more than 33% of France’s total natural gas consumption (compared to 28% the previous year), Elengy said in a stzatement.
These volumes put the average load factor of Elengy’s three LNG terminals at 57%, among the highest in Europe (average load factor: 44%).
A total of 220 cargoes of liquefied natural gas were received from Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago, Qatar, and Yemen.
60 of these were received at the Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal, 101 at the Fos Tonkin terminal, and 59 at the Fos Cavaou terminal.
February 18 saw the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal unload its 100th cargo since it was commissioned, Elengy added.
