International shipbroker, The Stewart Group, has added new depth with the appointment of Michael Braid to launch its specialist subsea and renewables business.

As part of the RS Platou ASA Group, The Stewart Group utilises a respected network of 390 professionals with a track record of global commercial delivery and time-critical market analysis in the shipbroking industry.

Paul Love, Managing Director of The Stewart Group , said: “We’re delighted Michael has joined The Stewart Group team. The calibre of the appointment underpins our growth strategy in the subsea and renewables sector.”

Aberdeen-based Michael, Specialist Subsea and Renewables Shipbroker at The Stewart Group , said: “The Stewart Group’s reputation and in-house expertise provides the foundation to deliver enhanced specialist subsea shipbroking services to the international oil & gas and renewables clients.

“This additional resource to The Stewart Group’s overall capabilities will deliver further added value to clients.”

The Stewart Group, which has offices in Aberdeen, London, Houston, Cape Town and Ghana, is a world leader in shipbroking for the procurement of offshore support vessels, deep sea towage, salvage and ship sale/purchase services.

The company has now added subsea and renewables capability and is active in the following sectors: subsea construction / pipelay; diving support; IMR and ROV support; decommissioning; well intervention / well stimulation; cable installation and maintenance (power & fibre optic); offshore renewable energy; seismic survey / seabed logging; trenching and ploughing support.

A former pupil at Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen, Michael, who has an MA in Marketing from Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University, gained several years’ experience in surveying, logistics, offshore operations and shipbroking in the energy sector prior to moving to The Stewart Group.
