Santos’ Vice President Asia Pacific, Martyn Eames, today addressed the LNG Supplies for Asian Markets conference in Singapore.
He discussed the way in which the development of Australian unconventional gas resources will help capture a significant proportion of the forecast growth in demand for LNG in Asia, and Santos’ own role in meeting that demand through its quality LNG portfolio.
Speakin about the GLNG poject he said that the construction of GLNG is progressing well.
The budget is maintained at $16 billion from FID until the end of 2015.
“ I’m pleased to report that we’re off to a good start and schedule for first LNG in 2015 ,” he said.
More than 1800 people are working directly on GLNG, he added.
Clearing of the LNG plant site on Curtis Island is now complete.
He said that bulk gas works are well advanced, and “ we’ve laid the first concrete for the Train 1 compressor foundations .”
The ownership structure of GLNG is: Santos 30%; PETRONAS 27.5%; Total 27.5%; and KOGAS 15%.
GLNG has sold 7 million tonnes per annum to PETRONAS and KOGAS.
The Santos GLNG project is a 7.8 million tonne per annum, two train liquefaction project. The plant is being designed and constructed by Bechtel.
