Ebara International Corporation, Cryodynamics Division, has been awarded the contract to supply 10 units (9 pumps and 1 expander) for the Shell Prelude project, offshore Western Australia.
The contract was awarded by Technip, part of the Technip-Samsung consortium who is building the Floating LNG facility for the owner, Shell.
Shell’s FLNG facility will be the largest offshore structure in the world, with its length measuring 488 metres, beating the Eiffel Tower (324 m), or the Petronas Twin Towers (378.6 m).
It will be moored at the Prelude gas field, about 200 kilometers off Western Australia’s Kimberly Coast.
Once operational, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate (equivalent to 35,000 bbl/d) and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.
First gas production is expected to start in 2017, and the FLNG facility will stay at the Prelude field for 25 years.
