The Société du Terminal Méthanier de Fos Cavaou (STMFC) is changing its name to Fosmax LNG – a new identity that incorporates its geographical location, Fos-sur-Mer, its capacity to receive the largest LNG cargoes, and its activities at the heart of the global liquefied natural gas market.
The colours in its new logo, blue and lavender, symbolises Provence, the region that hosts the site on the French Mediterranean coast. The wind rose, for its part, is a reference to both the sailing world and to interconnection.
The Fos Cavaou LNG terminal has received over 100 LNG cargoes since it began operations, one third of which were Q-Flex (210,000 m³), and it can also receive Q-Max, i.e. the world’s largest LNG tankers (270,000 m³). In 2011, the terminal, which could further expand its capacity, received the equivalent of 10% of France’s natural gas consumption.
Fosmax LNG is a subsidiary of Elengy (72%) and Total (28%). Elengy, a GDF SUEZ company, is Europe’s second-largest LNG terminal operator, operating three French LNG terminals – Montoir-de-Bretagne on the Atlantic coast, and Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou on the Mediterranean.
