Exxon Mobil aims to resume work at its Papua New Guinea LNG project after a dispute with residents over land was resolved, Exxon Mobil spokeswoman Rebecca Arnold said.
“Community leaders in the Hides area have come to a resolution with the government to allow work in Hides to resume. We have begun to mobilise our workforce to recommence work, ” she said.
PNG LNG is an integrated development that includes gas production and processing facilities in the Southern Highlands and Western Provinces of Papua New Guinea, including liquefaction and storage facilities with capacity of 6.6 million tons per year.
There are over 700 kilometers (450 miles) of pipelines connecting the facilities. The investment for the initial phase of the project is estimated at US$15,7 billion.
