JSC Yantar Shipyard (Kaliningrad, Russia) works hard on construction of same-named Project 22010 oceanographic research ship. It is planned to maintain such working speed till the end of 2012 when the ship will be put afloat for outfitting and trials, reports the shipyard’s press service.

To determine organizational and technical arrangements in order to meet contractual commitments in time, directors of all companies participating in the ship’s construction convened at Yantar Shipyard in March 13-14. The ordering party was represented by VADM A. Burilichev, chief of Deepwater Research Dept at Russian Defense Ministry. He gave a good mark to works performed by the shipyard. It should be noted that research ships Yantar and Seliger also outfitted at the yard are lead ships, so their construction is any kind but simple and goes on with delay. To meet the schedule, Kaliningrad shipwrights will have to endeavor best efforts.

At present, the ship’s thrusting propellers are being prepared for installation; according to plan, rudder propellers are to be mounted in April. Experts of JSC Era have already started to assemble fitter items; cable laying works are to begin soon as well. The shipyard’s workshops are completing sections of the eighth block; it will be transferred to the slipway in April. Mounting of the block will close the deck erection process. Early in Jan 2012, shipbuilders held complicated technological operation jointing the ship’s sections.

Estimated delivery term is the end of 2012.
