IEV to Supply MPG Technology to Oil and Gas Platforms in Asian Waters

IEV International Limited (“IEV”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of IEV Group Sdn. Bhd. was awarded contracts to supply its proprietary “ocean-powered” Marine Growth Prevention (“MGP”) technology to three newly built platforms and one existing platform in the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. A total USD 960,000 worth of MGPs will be supplied to these four structures.

The new platforms will utilise MGP technology as part of IEV’s Structural Integrity Solutions (“SIS”) to protect and maintain the platform jackets free of marine growth from the first day of installation. The utilisation of MGP reduces static, dynamic and hydrodynamic loading and increases fatigue life of platforms. It also reduces the design allowances for additional growth thickness and roughness therefore, resulting in effective and efficient fabrication, installation and abandonment costs.

The existing 8-legged jacket in the Gulf of Thailand will be fitted with MGP technology as part of the Life Extension Solutions (“LES”) offered by IEV. The new generation of Self-Cleaning Surface Driven “Single-Ring” (MGP-W SC) will be employed on the splash zone area where marine growth is most prolific. The MGP-W SC does not require reconfiguration as it removes existing marine growth and prevents re-growth in one single deployment.

Since 1990, over 27,000 MGPs have been applied to approximately 405 structures worldwide, making use of the free ocean waves and currents to control marine growth on marine structures.
