Proposed Inchcape offshore wind farm faced discussion between the companies, engaged in project development, and the public, especially landowners and farmers in Angus area. A week ago, cable connecting to the grid worried local residents. However, according to the latest developments it appears that the reported information were inaccurate.

“This is incorrect. The Inchcape offshore wind farm has been offered a grid connection at Cockenzie, East Lothian, and the cable will not therefore make landfall in Angus nor cross any land in Angus,” said the spokesman of companies involved in the project.

The cable meeting land on the Angus coast would not run through farm land, housing and golf courses connecting wind farm to the grid at Tealing, because Inchcape has a grid connection offer at Cockenzie.

Proposed offshore wind farm is located in the outer Firth of Tay region, about 15 – 22 km east of the Angus coastline. It is projected to consist of 180 wind turbines on an area of about 150 km 2 , with an estimated capacity of 1,000 MW and a potential yield of over 3,000 GWh per year. Work is not expected to begin before 2015.
