A model of MCT’s SeaGen tidal technology is one of a number of exhibits on display at the BIS Marine Industry showcase, which is taking place in London between 16th – 27th April.

The Marine Industry Showcase is opportunity to highlight the industry sector’s contribution to the UK economy and the Government’s wish to see the sector develop. On the opening day of the Showcase, MCT, which is a Siemens business, welcomed Mark Prisk, the UK Minister for Business & Enterprise.

The Government outlined their strategy for growth for the UK’s Marine Industries last year, which will increase the level of funding to the sector, helping put the UK at the forefront of the industry on a global level.

Dr Andrew Tyler, Chief Executive of MCT said: “Government support is vital in helping accelerate the growth of a vibrant marine industry and we welcome and share in the determination to become a global leader. With the backing of Siemens, MCT is now moving tidal power towards commercialisation and has a proven and viable means to harness what is an abundant natural resource. Having the support of a unified marine sector and its supply chain will be integral for mass deployment of marine energy in the UK and overseas and the creation of a significant and long-term industry for the British economy.”
