EFC Group, a leading designer and manufacturer of controls, handling, instrumentation and monitoring systems for the global oil and gas industry, has announced the successful delivery of two major contracts as well as the regional appointment of a vice president for the Americas.
This comes as part of a focused campaign by EFC, headquartered in Aberdeen with a production facility in Houston, to secure both new and extended business through developing its handling, instrumentation and control divisions.
The Group has appointed Craig Clarke as vice president – Americas. This is a new position within EFC Group to facilitate an accelerated growth plan for the region.
Mr Clarke brings over 15 years’ experience managing offshore mechanical handling equipment for both drilling contractors and service companies. Previously he held the position of EFC business development manager – Asia Pacific.
Talking about his new appointment, Mr Clarke said: “ As one of the founding members of EFC’s Mechanical Handling division, I am very much relishing this new challenge and to build upon recent contract successes establishing EFC as a reputable provider of quality mechanical handling equipment.
“EFC has identified the Americas as a key growth market, particularly for the MH division and is committed to driving this forward.”
EFC Group announced the successful delivery of a major multi-million pound mechanical handling contract for one of the world’s largest oilfield service providers Baker Hughes.
EFC has supplied a self-erecting Mastiff Rigless Intervention System (RIS) with a 352 ton capacity for well bore tubular extraction during well abandonment phase and conductor pre-installation activities. The system has full hazardous area certification and each sub 12 ton module ships in a standard ISO container, giving the ability to deploy rapidly to any location.
Ted Littlechild, sales director at EFC Group , said: “ This significant contract for EFC, resulted from a segment opportunity which Baker Hughes identified in the global oil and gas service market.
“At EFC, we pride ourselves on how closely we listen to our client requirements and our ability to offer a truly bespoke solution which encompasses these needs and has allowed us to deliver on the expectations of this contract.”
EFC Group has also recently delivered contracts valued at approximately £500,000 [$850,000 USD] with a global drilling contractor, to provide horizontal pipe feeder handling system and choke control systems onboard its semi-submersible MODU.
In a further run of contract successes, the Group has also been selected by Ocean Rig to provide numerous hot line test panels, fine scale gauges and liquid seal monitor, worth approximately £320,000 [$508,000 USD].
This will include the provision of user-friendly hydraulic test panels for the quick testing of well control systems on its newbuilds, a critical requirement in today’s operational environment due to the potential hazards and regulations associated to pressure testing.
EFC Group attended this year’s OTC in Houston to further strengthen client relationships in the region as well meet with existing and potential clients from the wider global market place.
As well as Houston and Aberdeen, EFC also has international representation in Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, India and Mexico, making the group well placed to service its global client network.
