Aker Solutions is establishing an office in Ålesund, Norway, to connect with the engineering competence in the region and thereby facilitate further growth for the oil services company.

The Ålesund region and its marine industry is renowned for highly skilled and competent engineers. The new office will from day one consist of a group of seven engineers. Recruitment for further personnel will start immediately.

“We are very pleased to set up an office in Ålesund. With this office we will be strengthening our presence along the Norwegian coast which will enable us to provide even better support to our customers who operate on the Norwegian continental shelf. The recruitment process at the Ålesund office will start immediately and we aim to increase our workforce significantly,” says Tore Sjursen, head of maintenance, modifications and operations in Aker Solutions.

“The engineering competence in general and structural design and analysis capabilities in particular is something that the Ålesund region is renowned for through its strong ties to the maritime industry. We are excited to have this knowledge within our reach and will utilise it to provide a competitive edge for both Aker Solutions and our customers,” Sjursen adds.

The Ålesund office will work closely with other Aker Solutions offices throughout Norway and provide specialist competence on structural design, structural analysis and naval technology. The office will be part of a global engineering and competence network which has foothold in more than 30 countries and a workforce of over 23 500 people.

In Norway, Aker Solutions’ maintenance, modifications and operations business currently has offices in Tromsø, Sandnessjøen, Kristiansund, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger as well as fabrication facilities in Egersund.
