Wilton Engineering has underpinned its growth plans with the appointment of an experienced industry figure to a key role. Duncan Warriner, 42, has been appointed proposals director as the Teesside-based business looks to continue its expansion in the oil, gas and renewables sector.
Previously managing director with an engineering business, Mr Warriner now leads the Wilton tendering team that provides the front-end liaison with clients on all technical, commercial and operational aspects of potential projects.
Wilton Engineering, based at the 50-acre Port Clarence Offshore base at Middlesbrough, provides design, fabrication and engineering solutions. It is part of the Wilton Group that also includes PD&MS Energy in Aberdeen, with operations also in Dundee, Great Yarmouth and Brazil, along with Teesside-based Universal Coatings.
Group-wide the business secured contracts worth more than £55m in the first quarter of this year.

A chartered mechanical engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Mr Warriner said: “The move to Wilton was an opportunity to join a business that is very much on the up. My role is to deliver clear and robust tenders, ensuring support from all our departments, as well as highlighting the significant capability within the business to our clients.”
More than 250 jobs were created on Teesside after Wilton announced a major North Sea engineering contract with ConocoPhillips earlier this year . It also announced last week that it had secured a major North Sea contract with Subsea 7.
Mr Warriner, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, began his career at Kvaerner Oil & Gas, rising through the ranks to be a key member of the teams that delivered major offshore projects. He then went on to hold other senior roles in the industry before heading up an established pipeline engineering business in the north-east of England.
