Bowtech Products Ltd., a market leading manufacturer and supplier of cameras, LED lighting, emergency relocation strobes, connectors, fiber optic multiplexers and slip rings for use in underwater or hazardous area applications, to any ocean depth, has announced that they have completed a supply contract with BAE Systems Submarine Solutions.

This contract with BAE Systems, involved the supply of CL Series underwater LED lights for Boat 4 of the Astute Build Program. Bowtech developed the CL-Series lights in close collaboration with BAE Systems, specifically for military submarine applications. The lights incorporate proven technology, from Bowtech’s commercial, off the shelf (COTS) product range and superseded the lights that were also supplied to Boats 1-3.

The CL series lights have successfully completed rigorous testing – pressure, both hydrostatic and hyperbaric, thermal, shock, vibration and EMC.

The lights can be configured to provide a wide range of lighting level, dependent upon the location on the submarine. A variety of colour options are also available.

The LED light engine has an MTBF of 50,000 hours and maintains 70% lumen efficiency at 50,000 hours, reducing its Through Life Support costs to a minimum.

This close working relationship with BAE Systems has led to a letter of commendation from the Supply Chain Director at BAE Systems.

Bowtech Products will be exhibiting at this year’s Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) exhibition in Alicante, Spain at stand number A4, from the 29th to the 31st of May.
