Paradigm™ announced yesterday that after a competitive evaluation, Cairn Energy PLC has chosen the Paradigm interpretation toolkit as its next generation 2D and 3D seismic interpretation solution. Cairn will use the new system to interpret new 3D surveys acquired last year in offshore Greenland. The announcement was made at the 2012 European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) Annual Conference and Exhibition, in Copenhagen, Denmark, held June 4–7.

Following a thorough review of all available options, Cairn Energy chose Paradigm’s seismic interpretation solution because it offered a modern and comprehensive toolkit built on a robust data management infrastructure allowing streamlined workflows with reduced data administration.

Paradigm provides a comprehensive yet flexible seismic interpretation and visualization system. It covers a range of upstream projects scaling from basin to prospect and reservoir, from exploration field to development field, and from a single user on a laptop to multi-disciplinary teams of geoscientists, petrophysicists and drilling engineers. The system is especially designed to handle very large 2D and 3D seismic surveys containing multiple well databases, through the use of efficient volume roaming, automatic picking, and high levels of interactivity.

“As oil and gas companies grow, the ability to efficiently manage growing volumes of geoscience data becomes vital,” said Mark Littman, Paradigm’s sales director for Northern Europe. “Our innovative high science tools combined with a secure, efficient, data management infrastructure allow our customers to get the most value out of their seismic data in the quickest timeframe.”

Paradigm interpretation applications are featured at EAGE 2012 in Copenhagen, booth #1550, together with the complete Paradigm 2011 product suite.

Paradigm is an upstream oil and gas leader in digital subsurface asset management and software innovation. Its analytical and information management solutions extend across the most critical exploration and production disciplines from seismic processing and imaging, interpretation, modeling to reservoir characterization, and well planning and drilling. Serving the oil and gas, and mining industries since 1987, Paradigm operates globally through 30 client service and technology facilities located in 25 countries.
