Belinda Batten, the director of the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center will hold a free public presentation about wave energy development offshore West Coast, reports the Gazette Times.

Namely, scientists are working with businesses, communities and policy makers to consider wave energy options.

The presentation will be held today at the Old World Deli, 341 S.W. Second St., in Corvallis.

OSU engineers are working with AXYS Technologies to install a test buoy this year.

Many companies such as Columbia Power Technologies, Neptune Wave Power and Northwest Wave Energy Innovations are planning to test prototypes, and Ocean Power Technologies has secured permits for a small commercial-scale device near Reedsport.
