Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that Kawasaki Gas Turbine-Americas, Kawasaki’s Houston-based sales and service affiliate for North and South American market, was awarded by Technip, which is one of the world’s leading engineering companies in the oil and gas field , a contract for supplying 3 units of GPB15 gas turbine generator sets for Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) Mariscal Sucre Dragon/Patao Development Project, off the North-east coast of Venezuela.
The Mariscal Sucre Dragon and Patao fields are located approximately 25 miles North of Paria Peninsula, state of Sucre, Venezuela, at a water depth of 328-427 feet (100 to 130 meters). They are the first offshore gas development platforms for Venezuela.
The GPB15 gas turbine generator system will be used to supply electricity to an offshore gas pressure booster platform. This is a milestone order for Kawasaki and its first offshore gas turbine generator in South America.
The GPB15 powered by its M1A-13 gas turbine is a lightweight, compact power generation system and one of Kawasaki’s main products. Since its launch of M1A-13 in 1988, Kawasaki has manufactured more than four hundred and twenty M1A-13 units which display exceptional reliability and a proven track record.
Kawasaki is actively moving forward establishing further inroads into the oil and gas market with its state-of-the-art gas turbines.
