Leading international oilfield services company Expro hosted a grand opening event celebrating its new operations base in Paradise, Newfoundland. The custom-built facility supports the company’s growth in Newfoundland’s emerging offshore oil industry.

In recent years, Expro has secured multi-million dollar contracts to supply offshore well test equipment and services in Newfoundland. Currently, well test equipment and services are being provided on two offshore rigs for three major operating companies in eastern Canada.

“Canada has experienced strong growth during the past few years and Expro Canada has successfully secured contract wins to support the development,” said Carl Cooper, Frontier Division Manager for Expro . “Eastern Canadian offshore is a critical part of our success and this new facility allows us to continue to deliver the highest standards for our customers at this exciting period for the region.”

The new facility supports the delivery of well testing, subsea and downhole video services for the region.

Many who attended the opening celebration said the new facility is a welcome addition.

“Our grand opening is a way for us to celebrate our success and future success in Canada with clients and community,” Cooper said.

The grand opening celebration included an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours and feature displays of Expro’s service capabilities. Special guests included Paradise mayor Ralph Wiseman , local media, community dignitaries and Expro chief operating officer, Mike Jardon , who led the ceremony.

“We have an exceptional group of customers here,” Jardon said. “It is a pleasure to see how collaborative the working relationship is. It is one of the best partnership agreements I have observed in our global operations.”

Expro has made a $3.4 million investment to create the base for its team in Newfoundland, a move that highlights the company’s commitment to the area.

“The town of Paradise is pleased to have Expro here providing exceptional and professional service to our offshore oil industry,” Wiseman said. “We wish the company many years of success.”

Located in the new Octagon Industrial Park, the facility accommodates a team of 30 people, the majority of whom are local employees. The base covers a two-acre lot and includes a four-bay workshop with 8,400 square feet of warehouse area and an office annex with 6,000 square feet of office space on two levels.

“Expro has had a strong commitment to Newfoundland since the late 1990s and this new facility is just another indication of how bright we see the future here in eastern Canada,” Jardon said.
