Norway’s oil and gas exploration and production company Statoil has received consent to use the Deepsea Bergen Semisubmersible rig on the Norwegian sea fields.
The company recently informed Odfjell Drilling that it was exercising the option for maximum duration of the new drilling contract , which means that Deepsea Bergen will be drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf for another five years.
The consent provided by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway means that Statoil will carry out production drilling, completion, intervention work, well cleaning and well testing for the Heidrun, Åsgard, Norne, Urd and Skuld fields with the Deepsea Bergen rig
The planned start-up is 1 August 2012.
Deepsea Bergen is an Aker H3 facility built in 1983 which is operated by Odfjell Drilling AS. The facility received the authorities’ Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in December 2001.
