In June 2012 Konecranes received an important order for a Goliath gantry crane from Kvaerner in Norway. The Goliath gantry crane will be in operation at Kvaerner’s facilities at Stord on November 2013. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.

The markets on the Norwegian Continental Shelf show a large number of new oil and gas related onshore and offshore projects coming up during 2012-2020. Kvaerner is preparing for the future growth and investing in upgrades of its facilities, and in lifting and trailing capacity, including a new Goliath gantry crane.

“The investments made into manufacturing capacity and thus to an improved productivity in the Nordic countries are very encouraging. Kvaerner is an excellent example of a successful Nordic company, which continuously develops its operations,” says Jussi Rautiainen, Konecranes’ General Manager, Shipyard Cranes . “It is a matter of honor for Konecranes to be part of these investments and to supply our customer with a shipyard gantry crane equipped with the latest technology.”
