Boatbuilders Tehnomont Brodogradilište of Pula, Croatia have recently delivered a Camarc designed 25m Patrol Boat “Marino Jakominić”. The boat is due to operate in coastal waters for the Croatian Marine Police, based in Rijeka. The 25m Aluminium design is similar to a fleet of five Camarc patrol boats built in Malaysia for the Royal Malaysian Police in 2009.
The all Aluminium construction was designed to meet Croatian Register of Shipping (CRS) structure approval and was fabricated using a construction Kit technique. A combination of a good structural kit and skilled fabricators led to a very fair fabrication.
The vessel accommodates a crew of 7 with a makeup of 5 cabins in the lower accommodation space comprising of various configurations. There are separate mess rooms for officers and for crew, a substantial galley, an office and 4 WC/shower spaces. The combination of a raised wheelhouse and flying bridge give excellent all-round visibility for manoeuvring and patrol operations.
The vessel is designed for the supervision of internal waters, territorial sea and ecological/fisheries protection zones for the Republic of Croatia which include the observing, monitoring and control of boats and vessels. The vessel is fitted with a comprehensive range of navigational equipment to assist in this role. A 4.9m RIB is carried on the aft deck, launched by fixed boom crane for such boarding operations and inspections. The all around foam fender also offers suitable protection for the vessel whilst carrying out its role. Occasional dive operations utilise the onboard dive equipment and transom platform with integrated dive ladder.
A twin installation of MTU 16V2000 engines @ 1050kW power the vessel to over 28 knots in trials condition. A 40kW hydraulic bowthruster has also been fitted to enhance slow speed manoeuvrability. Electrical power for the domestic load is provided by a pair of Cummins Onan 27kW generator sets.
The vessel has a fuel capacity of over 9000 litres, divided between two integral tanks and a 2200 litre capacity integral fresh water tank and substantial oily bilge water tanks to ensure the endurance required for patrol operations.
On other vessel features, the piping throughout this vessel has been largely completed in Cupro-Nickel piping, chosen for its corrosion resistance and weight efficiency. A concentrated effort has also been made to minimise noise and vibration onboard this vessel. An ‘Isolamin’ floating sole is one of the technical solutions incorporated to keep noise levels down to 68dB(A) in the wheelhouse. The design also features a Super-High-Holding-Power (SHHP) anchor which is self-stowing in a pocket in the hull for ease of anchoring.
