Offshore handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems has supplied davits for four Japanese Fisheries patrol vessels. The davits will allow the rapid deployment and retrieval of a range of high speed workboats, even in Sea State 6 conditions, during patrol operations.
The all-weather Caley davits enable rigid inflatable boats (RIBS) to be held in readiness and launched in seconds. Crew safety is paramount to the davit’s handling system which features anti-pendulation control for pitch and roll damping and reduction of pendulum swing. During boat recovery, the towing boom positions the boat under the davit, eliminating boat yaw, while light auto tension winch control eliminates snatching during recovery.
The davits are being fitted to the Japanese Fisheries patrol vessels – Hakuryu-maru, Shirahagi-maru, Hakuo-maru and Toko-maru. Each system comprise a C-frame davit with associated towing boom, central hydraulic power unit and controls. The C-frame davit is designed to launch and recover the patrol vessels’ workboats weighing up to 3.5Te. Stored in the davit’s integral secure stowage boat cradle, launch and recovery operations are controlled from a single control station, mounted fore of the davit, allowing the operator a clear view of the davit boat and towing boom.
All the davits for the Japanese Fisheries patrol vessel are being installed by Caley’s local distributor URA (Japan) Inc.
