The first 250-meter-long tanker, out of four ordered by the Venezuela’s Oil Company, was launched on Monday evening at SADRA shipyard Bushehr yard, Iran. This Aframax tanker is the largest oil tanker manufactured in the Middle East region so far.
With the astonishing efforts of all employees, the shipyard managed to complete the vessel within just 24 months.
In 2007, Venezuela placed an order for 4 Aframax tankers with the capacity of 94,000 tons each and SADRA, with some changes, brought the vessel’s capacity to 113,000 tons.
The length of the tanker is 250 meters, width 44 meters, height 21 meters and draught 14.8 meters. Estimated cost of each tanker is around Euro 57 million (approx $ 68.8 mln). These Aframax tankers can easily carry 750,000 barrels of oil.
Construction works on the second Aframax are in full swing.
