Emerson Process Management, in collaboration with Ascenz Pte Ltd, introduces a remote fuel consumption and bunkering monitoring system to help shipping companies manage fuel costs.

As oil prices remain high, fuel monitoring continues to be a concern for ship owners. Traditionally, there has been virtually no way of obtaining information on fuel consumption from moving vessels. By delivering highly accurate fuel usage and bunkering data from moving ships to the land-based shipping company control office, customers can gain real-time insight into the ship’s operations. The Emerson and Ascenz collaboration joins together fuel delivery measurement accuracy with remote monitoring and data delivery, setting a new trend for the shipping industry.

Ascenz, based in Singapore, is a supplier of remote monitoring systems for shipping companies to track fuel consumption and bunkering monitoring. Data capture of fuel consumption and bunkering data is achieved using highly accurate Emerson Micro Motion® Coriolis flow measurement technology. Using Ascenz’s unique software monitoring system, this data is then delivered from moving ships to the onshore control office. Through the Ascenz remote monitoring system, data is transmitted and translated into useful information for customers to monitor fuel usage and ensure accurate fuel bunkering.

Mr. Chia Yoong Hui, co-founder and CEO of Ascenz Pte Ltd , said, “The collaboration with Emerson is an ideal way to provide customers with the data they need to improve their operations. I know I can count on the Emerson team for their technical know-how and international support network.”
