SARC and MasterShip Software have joined forces and will be present together at the SMM 2012 exhibition in Hamburg. Now, SARC (design and stability software) and MasterShip (modeling and production software) closely cooperate. This leads to a smooth workflow from concept design to construction modeling, production and loading evaluation.
The MasterShip Workshop Assistant brings customers’ 3D model into the workshop, making 2D workshop drawings obsolete. After a two year innovation program, MasterShip developed a completely new software and hardware solution.
The Workshop Assistant is a touch-screen table that brings the 3D ship model to the shop floor. First tests by two shipyards gave great results. Building information was much easier to understand and provided welding, fitting and assembly information.
Engineering costs decreased as the expensive creation of production drawings was eliminated.
SARC will be presenting the commercial release of a completely new interface of their Fairway hull design software. Fairway allows full and direct control over actual hull lines by simple operations. Thereby, hull design per computer is made as flexible and versatile as drafting on paper. The completely new interface is developed to improve the user friendliness of Fairway.
Thus, different types of software can now make use of the same basic geometry model of the vessel, which will reduce double input, data conversions, version conflicts, etc.
MasterShip introduces Template Oriented Modeling TOM
Furthermore, MasterShip offers with an easy method to create parts using predefined ship construction templates. Parts made with TOM© are updated when there are changes in the 3D lines plan or parameters. 3D construction models and 2D construction-, class– and workshop drawings can be created simultaneously, efficiently and faster.
TOM allows the creation of construction even when the exact location of the shell seams is not known. Users first create the part, and when the exact location is known, they simply add the necessary welding hole and other details. This allows for more accurate weight and COG estimates early on in the process.
TOM is implemented in both MasterShip’s Modeling Software and Production Software. This guarantees a standard work method and an easy link to the production phase resulting in time saving and better control of the process.
SARC introduces Newlay
Beside the new Fairway interface, SARC will also present a completely new method to define the subdivision of a vessel, named Newlay.
Newlay allows bulkheads to generate defined compartments and vice versa. Either of these two types of models can be most suitable, depending on preferences and project composition. This development includes an open interface for communication with different types of dedicated software such as MasterShip.
This means that, different types of software can now make use of the same basic geometry model of the vessel, which will reduce double input, data conversions, version conflicts, which will save the designer lots of time.
