French oilfield services provider Technip, together with National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), has been awarded by Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) a lump sum engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and start-up contract for the Upper Zakum 750K Project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The field is located in the Gulf, 84 kilometers offshore Abu Dhabi. It is divided into four production artificial islands (Central, North, South, and West), with processing facilities at the Central Complex.
Under the contract the consortium will supply 240 kilometers of subsea pipelines ranging from 6” to 42” and 128 kilometers of subsea composite and fiber-optic cables.
Furthermore, the contract covers almost 30,000 tons of offshore structures (jackets, riser platforms, flare towers and bridges), including approximately 3,000 tons of islands modules and bridges.
The contract also includes the complete initial production facilities for temporary wells hook up to serve initial production distributed amongst the North, South and Central islands.
Technip’s operating center in Abu Dhabi will execute the overall engineering and participate in procurement, on-island works, cable installation and initial production. The project is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2015.
The UZ 750 Project is one of the largest offshore oilfield development projects in the United Arab Emirates and aims to increase oil production from the Upper Zakum field to 750,000 barrels per day and to sustain this level of production for at least 25 years.
