On July 26, 2012, MLL colleagues Gordan Van Hook, Dave Harriss, and Steve Carmel, along with Andy McAleer of MCA Associates, met with senior leaders of the U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC) to present a scale model of MAERSK PEARY, an ice-class tanker vessel under contract with MSC since 2011.

Rear Admiral Mark Buzby, Commander of the Military Sealift Command, stood with Carmel to unveil the model, which will be housed at MSC’s headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard in the District of Columbia. The gesture of goodwill helped to strengthen the relationship between MSC and MLL, affirming MLL’s longstanding commitment to ship operations and management for the national defense of the United States.

MAERSK PEARY is the most recent addition to MLL’s fleet of U.S. Flag tanker vessels. Under long-term time charter to MSC, she carried fuel and supplies for military research and operations to McMurdo Station, Antarctica on her maiden voyage. The ice-class vessel is slated for annual deliveries of military provisions to McMurdo Station and Thule Air Force Base in Greenland.
