Bridge Energy ASA has announced that drilling of exploration well 34/6-2S has started. The well will target the Garantiana prospect which is located 30 km northeast of Visund A platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

The well is being drilled by using the Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig. The well targets are stacked Jurassic/Triassic reservoirs. The unrisked mean potential targeted by the well is estimated as 18 million barrels net to Bridge.

Bridge has 20% interest in the well. Total is the operator with 40% and the other partners are Det norske (20%) and Svenska Petroleum (20%).

Tom Reynolds, Bridge Energy CEO , commented, “The Garantiana well is first in a programme of four wells which Bridge expects to drill before the end of the current year. Taken together, the targets have the potential to add significant resources to Bridge and we look forward to the well results over the next few months.”
