Subsea 7’s Allen Leatt, Senior Vice President Engineering, has recently been elected a Fellow of the UK’s prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering. The Academy brings together the country’s most eminent engineers from all disciplines to promote excellence in the science, art and practice of engineering.
At its Annual General Meeting in July, the Academy elected 59 new Fellows including Allen. The Academy recognised Allen’s 30-year contribution to the oil and gas industry “as a renowned expert in the field of subsea engineering” with particular recognition for his work in subsea construction techniques, underwater robotics and the development of offshore construction vessels.
Following his election, Allen said: “To be elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering is indeed a great honour; I am delighted and very grateful to my sponsors and supporters who have made this happen. The Academy’s work in encouraging innovation, nurturing engineering education and inspiring young people to become great engineers is a very powerful platform and one that I fully support and engaged with. It is very much in line with our in-house ethos of learning and development at Subsea 7.”
