Recently, Afai Southern and Damen Shipyards signed two new ferry contracts. The DFFe 4010, a Damen Fast Ferry measuring about 40 meters in length and 10 meters in width, is a completely new design following the latest innovations in passenger transport.
The hull as well as the superstructure will be made of aluminum resulting in a light but strong vessel. The propulsion can consist of either a controllable pitch propulsion system or a waterjet system, both having excellent fuel efficiency.
Delivery of these two Damen ferries is planned for the second half of 2013.
