Brazil’s oil and gas company Petrobras has revealed that the first oil from the Baleia Azul field, in the Espirito Santos Basin, will start flowing soon.
The first oil at Baleia Azul is scheduled for this month, with FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, which has a capacity to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day and is expected to reach peak production in March 2013. The FPSO Cidade de Anchieta arrived in Brazil this month following a 9,500 miles voyage from Singapore.
The company has also said that the first oil in the Baúna-Piracicaba area is slated for October 2012. The oil will be produced via recently christened FPSO Cidade de Itajaí FPSO .
Petrobras’ Director of Exploration and Production, José Miranda Formigli Filho has pointed out that projects, such as Baleia Azul and Baúna-Piracaba, will help the Company achieve its recently revised production target.
Baleia Azul oil is expected to flow at a rate of 100,000 barrels/day and Baúna & Piracaba at 80,000 barrels/day.
