Russia: Vyborg Shipyard to Build Icebreakers under RMRS Class

Vyborg Shipyard JSC have signed a contract with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) regarding classification during construction of icebreakers, project 21900M. Vyborg Shipyard JSC have signed a contract with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) regarding classification during construction of icebreakers, project 21900M.

The vessels will be built under RMRS class with class notation KM (*) Icebreaker 6 [2] AUT1-ICS FF2 BWM EPP ECO HELIDECK Special purpose ship, and operated under the flag of the Russian Federation.

Pursuant to the signed contract, RMRS will take part in dockside and sea trials as per approved program, and perform technical surveillance of construction of the icebreakers in accordance with the requirements of RMRS Rules and international conventions. These include surveys of hull, machinery, electric and automatic equipment. After positive findings of the surveys and tests, classification certificates and convention documents will be issued.
