In the international forum at SMM Hamburg 2012 the Danish Cooperation Initiative Green Ship of the Future (GSF) did Thursday (September 6) present the latest studies and a focus on cruise and ferry services.

It was with great enthusiasm AIDA Cruises´ Chief Sustainable Officer, Monika Griefahn at the Green Ship of the Future conference at SMM in Hamburg could tell about their holistic approach to greening operations of both machinery and the entire consumption and tourism based part of the industry:

“We do not think of sustainability as a limitation of the industry. Instead we take a holistic approach on sustainability and view this as a possibility to improve our services and customer experience. “

It was at the Danish Marine Group pavilion that Green Ship of the Future could present the latest studies in ferry design and possibilities within ECA requirements. Of other speakers was Danish Maritime who presented their retrofitting project, which is supported by the Danish Maritime Fund.

In 2009 Green Ship of the Future won The International Environmental Award from the Sustainable Shipping Organisation for their sustainable maritime initiative. Green Ship of the Future is the setting for Danish maritime companies’ common interest to research, develop and demonstrate energy efficient and green maritime solutions now and in the future.
