Bridge Energy has informed that drilling of exploration well 7/11-13 has started. The well will target the Geite prospect which is located 30 km west of the Ula field in the Norwegian North Sea.

The well is being drilled by the Maersk Guardian jackup rig. The well target is a Triassic reservoir. The estimated unrisked mean potential targeted by the well is 15 million barrels net to Bridge.

Bridge has a 15% interest in the well (pending government approval of 15% farmdown to Agora). Det norske oljeselskap is the operator with 35% and the other partners are Dana (25%) and Lotos (10%).

Tom Reynolds, Bridge Energy CEO, commented, “The Geite well is third in a programme of four wells which Bridge expects to drill before the end of 2012. We are already drilling Contender and Garantiana, and look forward to spudding the final well in our 2012 programme on PL457 in due course.”
