As the manager of the shipping department at China Oilfield Services Ltd, Cai Dian, stated, the company plans to make its ocean engineering fleet larger by adding 50 vessels.

ChinaDaily reports that COSL is now ready to venture into offshore oil development since China’s first deep-water drilling rig recently began operations near islands in the South China Sea.

During an industry forum in Shanghai on Sept 12, Cai said that the additional vessels will be used to support the company’s offshore oil projects.

COSL is the leading integrated oilfield services provider in the offshore China market. COSL has the largest fleet of offshore oilfield services facilities in China and it also owns and operates the largest and most diverse fleets in offshore China. COSL operates a fleet of 108 vessels, which accounts for 60 percent of China’s total ocean engineering vessel number.
