According to the States renewable energy policy advisor, Matt Des Forges, the Guernsey electricity sources will not be replaced by wind, wave and tidal power.
He added that the renewable energy sources will take at least another eight years to become fully operational. Until then, the cost of these remains high, BBC News reports.
Des Forges said: “Renewable energy is intermittent, the wind doesn’t always blow and the tides are not always flowing so the cables and conventional on island generation will always be very important to Guernsey“ , adding that some of their energy should come from renewable sources.
