Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil & gas decommissioning forum, held its annual general meeting last night in St Andrews, with 10 new directors elected from across all sectors of the decommissioning industry.
The meeting heard that the supply chain body now has 213 fee paying members. Attendees were also given an overview of Decom North Sea activity over the past year and an update on progress against the various strategic objectives.
Brian Nixon, Decom North Sea’s chief executive , said: “ We are delighted to have elected a board of experienced directors to Decom North Sea. These industry professionals bring experience and knowledge from various sectors of the industry, which is vitally important for DNS going forward.
“An important aspect of this year’s AGM was the feedback from an independent survey undertaken by Nigel Lees of BIS Inspection. As part of his MBA at The Robert Gordon University, Nigel (who is an existing director of Decom North Sea) conducted interviews and an online survey with a wide cross section of senior industry officials.
“The analysis resulting from this exercise will allow the re-invigorated board to review and refresh our strategy in line with the wishes of our membership. We are extremely grateful to Nigel for his excellent work on this survey.”
New directors are Roy Aspden, CNR International; Roger Esson, AMEC; Ian Prince, Wood Group PSN; David Dent, Proserv; Eddie Grant, TETRA Technologies; Nigel Lees, BIS Salamis; David Hamill, Stork Technical Services; Paul Charlton, PDL Solutions (Europe) Ltd; Andrew MacDonald, ASCO UK Ltd and Tom Leeson, Halliburton.
Decom North Sea and Oil & Gas UK are jointly hosting a major decommissioning industry conference today and tomorrow (October 10 and 11) at The Fairmont, St Andrews.
The conference will be chaired jointly by Brian Nixon and Paul Dymond, Oil & Gas UK’s operations director. They will be joined by a line-up of industry experts, who will share their knowledge of decommissioning and encourage delegates to participate in a range of interactive discussions on topical issues including current and projected decommissioning levels, management of platform well p&a and case studies of current projects.
The annual event follows on from two previous sell out conferences, with 300 delegates from the UK, Norway, The Netherlands and the USA attending this year’s conference.
