On 9th October, Trelleborg, officially opened its new, state-of-the-art facility in São Paulo, Brazil, for printing blankets and hoses.

The facility, which is located in Santana de Parnaiba, near São Paulo, covers a total area of 5,000 square meters / 53,819 square feet and will be shared between Trelleborg’s printing solutions and marine hoses operations. It will focus on the development and manufacturing of printing blankets for the graphic arts industry and specially designed oil hoses for surface and deep-sea application. Thirty percent of employees at the site will be new appointments from the local area.

Long-term strategy for growth

“Trelleborg has a long-term strategy to invest in markets with encouraging growth potential and with the graphics industry a growing and highly attractive market, increasing our presence in South and Latin America was the next logical step and central to our expansion strategy,” says Dario Porta, President of Trelleborg Coated Systems, which is part of the Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area .

President for Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, Mikael Fryklund, says: “The strongly growing offshore industry in Brazil justifies investments in the country. We have had significant sales to the oil and gas industry in Brazil for a long time. With the new facility, we continue to increase our global strength in oil hoses with local production and proximity to our customers in the country.”

Trelleborg in Brazil

This new facility will add to Trelleborg’s already strong presence in Brazil.

In September, Trelleborg inaugurated a newly constructed facility in Macaé which will manufacture a wide range of high performance polymer-based solutions for offshore topside and subsea oil and gas exploration, such as insulation tape and buoyancy products. To support offshore customers in their quest to reach greater subsea depths, the new facility boasts the largest hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world.

In addition to the printing solutions operations collocated in Santana de Parnaiba, last month, Trelleborg acquired Printec, the printing blankets business of Day Brazil SA. This makes Trelleborg the third largest player in printing blankets in Latin America.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems supports agriculture with high-end tires designed specifically for the well-deployed and large agriculture sectors like soy beans, corn and sugar cane, as well as industrial tires for the growing forklift sector. Its main sales offices are located in Lençóis Paulista and São Paulo, which is also home to the Trelleborg Wheel Systems headquarters for Latin America.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has a manufacturing facility and sales office in São José dos Campos that develops, manufactures and supplies high-performance sealing solutions for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.

There are also major automotive facilities in the strategic locations of Guarulhos and Taubaté that are part of TrelleborgVibracoustic, the joint venture in antivibration solutions for light and heavy vehicles.
