Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) has been awarded ‘Shipyard of the Year’ at Lloyd’s List Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards 2012, held at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai on 16 October 2012.

N-KOM was designed with optimal flexibility to undertake the entire spectrum of repair works, conversion, fabrication and maintenance and construction for a range of marine, offshore and onshore structures. The 43 hectare shipyard which operates within the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City has successfully completed over a hundred projects for marine, offshore and onshore clients.

With a strong focus on providing safe, reliable and quality services, N-KOM has implemented several key programmes to enhance its safety and quality culture. These programmes not only serve to enhance involvement amongst employees, but also the engagement of all stakeholders and contractors within the shipyard.

“We would not have achieved this milestone without the tremendous support from our valued customers, partners, contractors and vendors. We are honoured to have been given this recognition and will continue to develop N-KOM as a maritime center of excellence which is in line with His Highness’ vision for the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma shipyard to be a strategic asset to the State of Qatar,” said Mr Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, CEO of N-KOM .

Established in 2007, Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (N-KOM) is a joint- venture between Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), the world’s leading transporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and Keppel Offshore & Marine, the global leader in ship repair, ship conversion and construction of offshore drilling rigs. The world-class Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma shipyard, which is strategically located near to the LNG terminals in Ras Laffan Industrial City, was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, on 23rd November 2010.
