Development of the German Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm has been suspended by DONG Energy, due to grid connection issues associated with the grid operator TenneT TSO.

TenneT has not provided a firm date for laying the offshore cables, DONG Energy says. On the other hand, the grid operator explains that it cannot cover the full cost of investment in the power grid connection on its own and that it is seeking co-investors.

Harold Wouters, TenneT’s spokesman, is quoted by Reuters as saying that the grid operators and the potential investors are waiting for the German Government to make a decision on liability and long-term planning.
