CSL International (CSLI) announces that the MV Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin arrived in Port Sechelt, British Columbia at 02:00 PDT on October 21, 2012, completing the vessel’s maiden voyage.
A Port of Vancouver-issued plaque commemorating the event was presented to Captain Vladyslav Tarasov by Bruce Rothdram, President and CEO of Empire Shipping, and Claus Hendriksen, Chairman.
“The Captain, Chief Engineer and the entire crew of the Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin have done an outstanding and flawless job operating this vessel for the first time,” said Paul Cozza, President of CSL International. “We are exceptionally grateful and proud of their accomplishment, which marks an important milestone in CSL’s history and in our commitment to our customers and the environment.”
The first of three newbuild CSLI Trillium Class self-unloading Panamax vessels, the Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin set sail on October 5, 2012, from Chengxi Shipyard in Jiangyin, China and took 16 days to complete her voyage. She was deployed for service immediately upon arrival and promptly commenced loading her first aggregate cargo for discharge in the San Francisco area.
Receptions celebrating the Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin’s maiden voyage have been planned in San Francisco and Redwood City, California, as well as in Port McNeill, British Columbia where the Kwakuitl and Namgis First Nations will perform a traditional Blessing Ceremony onboard the vessel.
Employing leading-edge technology, the Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin and all Trillium Class vessels will set new standards in operational and environmental performance, energy efficiency and reliability.
