Salamander provides an update on its operations in its operated block B8/38 in the Gulf of Thailand.
Bravo Platform
As previously reported, the Bualuang Bravo Platform (“Bravo”) construction has been completed to schedule and budget. The Bravo jacket has now commenced sail-away from the Thai Nippon Steel yard in Bangpakong, Thailand and is en-route to the Bualuang oil field. Nippon Steel Corporation’s K1-heavy lift vessel is scheduled to arrive at the Bualuang field on 27th October to commence installation of the jacket. Sail-away and installation of the deck will follow shortly thereafter.
Bualuang Field Production
The field is currently producing over 8,200 barrels of oil per day, with the Bravo Platform on course to be ready to receive the Atwood Mako rig around the middle of November. A 16 well development drilling programme will commence in the second half of November, which will result in a significant increase in production from the Bualuang field.
2012 average daily production for the Group remains in line with previous guidance of 10,500 – 11,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
NW-1 Exploration Well
The B8/38-8 (NW-1) well continues to drill ahead below 740 m measured depth in 8.5 inch hole, and is yet to reach the prognosed depth of the prospective section. The well is expected to reach total depth in around 10 days’ time.
