Siport21 Real-Time Simulator Centre is DNV approved, (Det Norske Veritas), based on requirements in the STCW Convention (“Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers”).
This certification is the official recognition of the quality of their facilities and systems, as well as the working methodology aimed at the execution of port design studies (port approach of vessels manoeuvring under different physical and environmental conditions for the adequate layout design of the port, the approach channel and the manoeuvring zones). The certificate is also valid for Pilots, Captains and Officers education and training, either in a basic level or for specialized, advanced or retraining courses.
Responsible for the selection and implementation of the first numerical model for moored ship behaviour and manoeuvring model in a private company in Spain. Nowadays, Siport21 in one of the international references in maritime engineering, in particular, ship behaviour and ship manouvring. And the company continues to invest in new technologies and different business areas.
Langosteira, Barcelona, Bilbao, Algeciras or Valencia were some of the first ports where Siport21 studied the optimization their infrastructures. Since 1999, the company has developed more than 450 projects along of the Spanish coast and worked in other 27 countries: Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Ukraine, France, England, Portugal, Germany, Albania, Bulgaria, Iran, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia, Gabon, Benin and Angola.
In addition to the initial projects related to port design, Siport21 develops, nowadays, other kind of technical studies like Operation Studies, involving the definition and evaluation of Operation Procedures (tug assistance, manoeuvring strategies, aids to navigation, new vessels or traffic, etc.) and Operation Limits (weather limits, tidal restrictions, etc.); maritime traffic studies, passing-ships, emergency procedures and accidents analysis. Moreover, the company carries out Training Programs for Captains or Pilots. In this area, they have developed 100 courses with 250 trainees of more than 25 international shipping companies. It is important to mention its studies related to offshore wind farms: feasibility studies of floating structures or risk analysis.
On the other hand, Siport21 continues with its research collaboration, one of its values in which the company supports the quality of its projects. Also, several staff members are involved in the International Navigation Association, in the Technical Committee of Spanish Port Authority and other innovative activities in the maritime and port engineering field.
